The system of "community service" or "social labor" was established in our country through the amendment of Article 41 and the addition of Article 42-1 of the Criminal Code in January and June of the year 2009, respectively. This system allows individuals sentenced to imprisonment for a period of up to six months, detention, or fine to fulfill their sentence through unpaid labor while avoiding incarceration. It enables them to compensate society without interrupting their employment or neglecting their family responsibilities. This system has been in effect since September 1, 2009.
